Five Simple Strategies for Hosting a Stress-free Party
It's not uncommon for parents to lose sleep over an upcoming children's birthday party. The what ifs are a mile long and the worse possible scenarios flood your conscious thoughts. Your worst fears and anxieties can be extinguished by following these five sure hints for hosting a stress-free children's party.
1. Recruit Help - Enlist the help of at least one other adult (or teen) to lend a hand before, during and after the party. In addition, KIDSPACE The Party Place makes available to all parties at least one member of our courtesy crew to answer questions, assist as needed and clean up during and after the party.
2. Think Simple - and think like a child. Especially with themed parties, it's easy to get caught up in too much extravagance . . . think simple! Having a princess party? . . . consider this simple activity - put on the music and let your princesses dance! They'll love it. KIDSPACE The Party Place has dancing ribbons and other great props to bring fun to the party without work and expense for you! Check out the "Celebrate Your Way Page" for even more supplies to use at your party for no additional fees.
3. Plan a Party Schedule - Write down an agenda for the party and bring it with you. It's easy to forget a favorite game or let time get away from you without a schedule of activities. Included in your party packet (Party Check-off List) from KIDSPACE The Party Place, is a sample agenda for your party.
4. Free Time - Begin your party with play time for the children. This gives the children time to say hello to their friends, good-byes to parents and time to settle in. It also gives you time to make contact with the parents without trying to lead an activity with the children at the same time. KIDSPACE The Party Place recommends at least 15 minutes of free time at the beginning of the party.
5. Let Them Eat Cake - If your party is during a meal time - provide simple finger foods to accompany your cake instead of trying to serve a meal first followed by cake. Children would much rather play than eat, so keep the food simple and fast. For even less fuss and muss, KIDSPACE The Party Place recommends juice/milk boxes or pouches instead of the bother of big bottles and tipsy cups.
